Night Classes begin at Monadnock

Monadnock Regional High School will run its third year of night school courses beginning the week of Jan. 23rd. This is no charge for students under age 21 living in the district. There is a charge of $180 per course for adult students age 21 and older. There are a variety of courses being offered in English, math, science, social studies and introductory computer science. The Addiction Institute for Families of the Monadnock Region is happy to announce a new
psycho-educational Parenting Group for parents with sons and daughters who are abusing or addicted to mood altering substances. This group will cover (but not be limited to) the following topics: Substance abuse and addiction; Co-addiction/Codependency; Healthy communication skills; Healthy boundary setting; and how to help your son or daughter want to change their lifestyle.

Catch Kids Club

Catch Kids Club offers children ages 6-11 the change to participate in a fun, healthy environment after school. Every day your child will participate in non or low competitive physical activities and learn healthy nutrition behavior choices.

This program is held every Monday through Friday from 3-5:00 pm beginning September 6th to the end of the school year (tentatively June 19th). The program is not held during the school vacations. The fee is $175 for the school year, payable at the start of the program.

Children may ride the bus from most Keene schools to the Recreation Center
daily. Contact your school to make arrangements for the ride.

Library Offers Free Tax Assistance Thursdays – Feb. 3 to April 14


The Keene Public Library will have AARP Tax-Aide volunteers at 60 Winter Street on Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 8:00 PM and by appointment at the Senior Center on 70 Court Street on Monday afternoons from 12:30 to 4:00 pm.  There is no charge to the taxpayer at either location.

FAFSA Nights

Keene State College’s Office of Financial Aid is hosting a free information night for high schoolers and their parents looking for information and help with college financial aid forms.


Called “FAFSA Nights,” after the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the program is a volunteer effort to provide free assistance to college-bound students and their families seeking help to complete the application form.

March Saturday SAT Workshops

The Keene Public Library is hosting a series of four Saturday morning classes in March designed to assist and motivate students in taking their SAT exams for college.  This course will cover test strategies and practice test taking in all three areas of the SAT exam.  Actual questions and problems taken from the SAT exams will be addressed.  There are simulated tests which are then reexamined with two highly qualified instructors.  Students will be able to judge where their weaknesses lie and learn strategies for preparing for taking the actual exams.
